Job description

This position is for PaxOcean Group, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited.

Position Summary

  • Ensure that all inspections comply with construction standards, approved procedures and drawings, client specifications, as well as class rules, codes, and regulations (AWS D1.1)

  • Serve as the primary contact and advocate for the PaxOcean Quality Assurance Department, prioritizing all structural quality-related issues and any additional responsibilities assigned by the QA Head.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the QA Department and production teams to enhance quality execution through improved coordination.

Tasks and Responsibility 

  • Carry out Survey and Inspection on jobs in Ship Building / Ship Repair, Module, and Ship Conversion QC-related activity, as per Quality standards as per Surveyor and Client requirements on schedule time.

  • To check all the Material verification.

  • Prefabrication of Hull panels, assemblies, and units to blocks about approved drawings.

  • Co-ordination between different engineering and Quality Assurance sections for resolving engineering and other quality & interdisciplinary checks.

  • Checking the plate fit-ups of assemblies and units before final welding.

  • Involved with the erection of structures from the entire assembly to the final block stage.

  • Checking proper alignment of units/blocks using water tube checks & plumb checks.

  • Welding consumable Quality Control.

  • Sorting out all documents, related to each project and verifying production documents.

  • Review Inspection & test plans by international codes and Client Specification Review Project Weld drawing, weld, and NDT map and welding Procedure Specification

  • Oversee various tests, including air leak tests, hydrostatic tests, vacuum tests, hydraulic oil flushing, structural load tests, and hose tests

  • Well-versed in monitoring preheating and post-weld heat treatment for welding joints by WPS and codes, particularly for structural and high-pressure pipe welding

  • Perform Surveillance during inspection to verify compliance with specified yard procedures including preheat, inter-pass temperature control, and post-heat requirements

  • Liaise with NDT team for NDT activities and verify reports

  • Prepare the final documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and contract requirements

Job requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant field

  • Experience in any degree/diploma

  • CSWIP 3.1 and NDT Level-II certification
