This position is for PaxOcean Group, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Responsible for: (The main job activities)

  • To provide necessary support to PaxOcean Group HSE for all matters

  • Function as the appointed Fire Safety Manger (FSM) for the yard and ensure all requirements as per Fire Code are being complied with

  • Taking lead as FSM or other appointed role within the Emergency response plan (ERP) during the event of an emergency

  • To serve as HSE Duty Manager as per manpower scheduling

  • Identify areas of improvement within current system and processes and recommend areas of improvement

  • Co-ordinate with both internal and external stake holders (Yard Management team, Owners, Contractors, and local government authorities) on all HSE matters

  • Ensure PaxOcean safety procedures are up to date and conforms to Singapore and International Standards and align with regulatory requirements

  • To strategize and plan out annual department work plan and Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Identification of training needs for both yard operational team and HSE department personnel

  • To participate in the evaluation and appraisal for all HSE department personnel’s performance and work output

  • To oversee the conduct of periodic audit and assessment of consultants, suppliers, contractors

  • Oversee preparation of weekly and monthly HSE report

  • Organise HSE Monthly Committee meeting

  • Prepare External Awards Application

  • Carry out periodic maintenance, servicing and replacement for all HSE assets

  • To prepare and submit Prequalification Questionnaire

  • Assist to monitor department budgets and expenditure

  • To plan and implement HSE initiatives and campaigns


Job requirements

  • More than 10 years of Shipyard / Marine related Experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in management role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS / any relevant engineering field from recognized institute.

  • Firm and decisive in decision making

  • Ability to provide feasible and practical solutions to challenges encountered

  • Competent in planning and conducting ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & Safety Management System Audit.

  • Ability to monitor and conduct data analysis and trending

  • Ability to conduct investigation and root cause analysis utilizing various proven investigational techniques

  • Proven track record on people’s management

  • Ability to prepare and present concepts and ideas to both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management team
