Position Summary:

To assist Section HODon the daily operation and department administrative work, such as manpower planning and deployment, tasks planning and management, technical support and department administrative work.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the regular maintenance and repair of shipyard facilities, including buildings, docks, cranes, and other equipment. 

  • Planning and executing facility improvement projects, such as building renovations, dock expansions, or utilities upgrading.

  • Ensuring all facilities adhere to safety regulations and standards.

  • Developing and managing budgets for facility maintenance and improvement projects.

  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency in shipyard operations and implement cost-saving initiatives.

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and implementing sustainable practices.

  • Identify potential risks to shipyard facilities and operational processes.  

  • Monitor energy consumption and implement energy-saving measures.

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts for maintenance services.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of facility upgrades and renovations.

  • Stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements in facilities management.

  • Analyze process flow, product movement, equipment layout, and operator assignment to identify labour efficiency wastes.

  • Prepare and setup brainstorming sessions for multi-functional teams to generate ideas for improvement opportunities.

  • Evaluate improvement ideas based on return on investment, quality and safety/ergonomics improvement.

  • Propose improvement ideas to management for approval.

  • Performs research and survey on industrial best automation practices.

  • Select supplier to execute improvement ideas using decision making analysis tool.

  • Partner supplier to design solutions to meet improvement objectives.

  • Plan overall project within scope, budget and timeline.

  • Key interface to automation vendor throughout project management lifecycle.

 

Job requirements

  • 2 years of experience in heavy industry, preferably Shipbuilding industry

  • Min. Diploma in Facilities Management / Mechanical / Electrical & Electronic / Civil Engineering.

  • Read technical diagrams and schematics for work planning and issue resolution.

  • Diagnose or troubleshoot faults in the plants and machinery.

  • Carry out electrical wiring / mechanical installation and technical maintenance works.

  • On-site installation, system setup, calibration, testing, onsite repairs and preventive & corrective maintenance.

  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to facility operations.

  • Experience in developing and managing budgets.

  • Initiative, team player, willing to assume responsibilities and work under pressure.
