Job description

Position Summary

  • Coordinates simultaneously with supervisory staffs of different trades and projects to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Proper planning to ensure instructions regarding work requirements are relayed from appropriate documents to sub-ordinates.
  • Implement and follow-up with operators to ensure compliance of productivity, quality, cost-effectiveness, environment, occupational health, and safety requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support foremen and engineers in pre-planning, generating programmes and follow-up of all jobs in order to utilize optimum resources – manpower and equipment.
  • Able to coordinate with Project Managers / Engineers / Owner’s Representatives / internal and external supervisory staff with work preparation, fabrication, and control of materials.
  • Provide assistance to foremen / tradesmen with resources as per job requirements.
  • Ensure all safety requirements for those reporting to them and processes under their supervision is adhered to – raise Occurrence reports and Safety Infringements in case of non-compliance.
  • Have the certain degree of foresight to plan for manpower and equipment to ensure smooth workflow and cost-effectiveness is achieved.
  • Is initiative-taking to improve own self to be better and has a positive mindset in learning new things that will benefit him and the company.
  • Able to motivate the team to ensure optimum performance, monitor the performance and provide continual appraisals for all subordinates.
  • When encountering a problem which affects workflow, able to discuss and contribute constructing ideas with his working colleagues to come up with a suitable solution to the problems faced.
  • Have the sense of ownership in the success or failures of their projects.
  • To submit their reports timely for allocated vessels before their departure.
  • Maintain all management system and production records.
  • Prepare target and progress reports.

Job requirements

  • At least 2-3 years minimum working experience as supervisor in ship repair industry/Machine Shop.
  • Able to understand technical drawings
  • Must have good knowledge on Marine Machinery /system works
  • Self-initiative and highly motivated able to work with high stress environment
  • Possesses good leadership skills to lead and supervise persons under their charge.
  • Able to speak and write in proper English fluently.
