Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chartering Manager to oversee our operations in Europe. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the shipping industry, excellent business acumen, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.

Chartering:

  • Develop a project and parcel service between Europe and US on the Handy and Supra vessels, Logger/OHBS to support existing PCL contracts.
  • Liaise with Chartering Managers in Singapore, China and India to develop cross trade.
  • Negotiate charter contracts for vessels, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Manage vessel operations, including voyage planning, cargo loading/discharging, and port calls.
  • Oversee vessel performance and optimize utilization.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for profitable charter arrangements.

Business Development:

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand our market share in Europe.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including new clients and cargo types.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, agents, and other stakeholders.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with shipping operations.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage insurance claims and coverage.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including maritime laws and safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address compliance issues.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Business, Shipping Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the shipping industry, with a focus on chartering and business management.
  • Strong understanding of shipping operations, including vessel types, charter parties, and trade routes.
  • Knowledge of specific cargo types or trade routes.
  • Proficiency in shipping software and systems.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in English and at least one European language.
