Job description

This position is for PaxOcean Group, a company under Kuok Group Singapore.
This role reports and supports the Senior Contracts Manager and works closely with Project stakeholders. The job is responsible for providing contractual advice and guidance to the Commercial and Project Management teams (PMTs) in managing commercial and contractual risk relating to the project and employ mitigation actions as quickly and effectively as possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide contractual advice from the commercial perspective and coordinate all aspects of ongoing projects - involvement starts from the tender stage to construction stage and eventually completion and payment, and to monitor the overall project costs and schedule.
Support commercial with review of contract administration requirements during tender phase to achieve best commercial position after identifying and assessing the contractual risk.
Support the procurement and subcontracting teams with compliance of key flow downs and critical terms from the main contract. Where required support the development of frame agreements for strategic suppliers / subcontractors for better pricing and delivery lead times.
Work with Project Manager and Commercial to track project milestones / payment stages and verify claims / variation orders.
Identify any likely issues (e.g. delays) or disputes that may arise in the project and discuss with Legal to work out appropriate strategy to resolve or mitigate the impact of such issues / disputes.
Manage contractual claims, disputes, settlements and resolution.
Partner the Project Manager and Commercial, provide guidance to relevant departments (Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Subcontracting) on what is required of them from the contract admin and deliverables requirements.
Organize and conduct contract familiarization workshops for the entire PMT to ensure all members are aligned on the Project’s contractual risks and opportunities.
Proactively engage in continuous improvement and review of existing processes, systems and policies that may support the project’s contract management and administration.
Risk Management - Enforce governance of internal processes to identify potential challenges or problems before they occur during projects execution, contracts administration, cost management etc.
Job requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 8 years in similar contract management position in shipping/marine industry, preferably familiar with offshore oil and gas industry.
Familiar with contractual obligations of project e.g. variation orders, notice periods, cost management including subcontractors.
Experience in managing and mitigating claims.
Familiar with Project execution processes, record retention requirement to support claims.
Able to work independently.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant contracts and contractual laws.
Ability to analyze issues and have a keen eye for details.
Professional with high integrity and credibility.
Fluent in reading and writing in English; ability to read and write in Bahasa Indonesia and/or Mandarin is a plus to support our overseas yards in Indonesia and China.
Open for business travel to our yards in Singapore, Indonesia and China.
