Job description
The role carries responsibility for the yard’s procurement and supply chain for the shipyards in Batam. The position will be responsible for planning, directing and managing procurement and supply chain activities across the shipyards covering materials, services, equipment, and consumables.
Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the Group and shipyards’ goals, budget, and project requirements. This involves setting and managing performance targets, including cost-saving opportunities and supply chain risks.
Assess and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, or quality issues. Develop contingency plans to address these risks.
Lead the procurement team in collaboration with various departments within the shipyards, including engineering, production, and project management, to support their operational requirements.
Manage procurement processes to ensure spent are within budget. Seek effective solutions which may involve negotiations, opportunities for bulk purchasing agreements, framework agreements, logistics optimization, or new sourcing strategies.
Work with the Procurement team in identifying and evaluating current/potential vendors. Participate in negotiations with key vendors.
Responsible for vendor performance management to ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
Collaborate with quality control and assurance teams to ensure that purchases meet the shipyards’ quality and safety standards. This involves conducting inspections and audits when necessary.
Work with the Yard Operations team to maintain optimal critical inventory levels for materials and consumables.
Establish and execute yard procurement procedures in alignment with PaxOcean Group policies and guidelines.
Consider sustainable and environmentally friendly procurement practices, such as sourcing eco-friendly materials and minimizing waste.
Job requirements
Degree in Procurement/ Supply Chain/ /Marine/ Engineering or equivalent certifications.
Minimum 5 - 8 years in a similar management position in the marine/offshore industry with strategic sourcing and vendor performance management exposure.
Good conversant in English
Experience in managing procurement processes using SAP.
Team management experience
Good leadership and negotiation skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of contract management.
Professional with high integrity and credibility.
Analytical and creative thinking
Good team player with a proactive approach
Verbal and written communication skills in English. Language competency in Bahasa Indonesia will be an added advantage.
