Job description
Task:
Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of new building projects from contract signing to vessel delivery.
Develop and monitor master schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely project execution.
Coordinate across departments (engineering, procurement, production, QA/QC) to align project goals.
Monitor project risks, costs, and scope changes, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
Serve as the main point of contact for owners, classification societies, and internal stakeholders.
Chair regular progress meetings and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Review and approve key project documentation including ITPs, test reports, and variation orders.
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities:
For managing all activities and progress related to the projects assigned to him.
Read, understand & interpret the contract, technical specifications and drawings of the projects assigned to him.
Monitor the progress of all projects under his responsibility on daily/weekly basis as applicable.
Liaise with the trade managers/sub-con reps effectively to coordinate & achieve the project schedule effectively.
Monitor closely the commercial aspects of all projects under him to ensure that the budgeted costs are maintained at all times
Coordinate & liaise with the Owner reps, vendors & Class for smooth completion of equipment & system commissioning.
Coordinate weekly production review meeting through the respective trade managers along with the Owner’s reps to bring out the pending issues for resolving amicably when needed.
Ensure safe working environment on all projects assigned to him.
Cover for Manager Ship Building responsibilities during his absence
Job requirements
Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management in newbuilding or conversion.
Proficient in spoken and written English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia/Malay is an advantage.
Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of technical terminology, particularly in a marine environment
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Proven experience in costing, budgeting, work breakdown structure (WBS), planning, forecasting, scheduling, progress management, and reporting.
