This position is for PaxOcean Group, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited.
Working Location: Tuas Shipyard
The Senior Purchasing Executive plays a crucial role in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of the shipyard’s procurement operations. This position is responsible for leading a team of 2–3 purchasing professionals, overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and equipment for newbuilding, conversions, and repair projects, and maintaining a reliable supply chain to support ongoing construction and maintenance activities. The role also requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and a focus on managing tight budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring the highest standards of procurement performance.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of 2–3 purchasing professionals by setting clear goals, delegating tasks, providing regular feedback, and conducting performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team.
Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with the shipyard’s objectives. Continuously monitor market trends and industry developments to make informed and cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on key criteria such as quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure a steady and dependable supply of materials and services.
Negotiating contracts, pricing, conditions, and terms to achieve cost savings and meet quality standards. Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
Ensure the on-time and cost-efficient procurement of materials and services by placing orders, monitoring delivery schedules, and proactively addressing any issues that arise.
Maintain adherence to all internal purchasing policies and procedures. Ensure that all procurement transactions are properly authorized, and that documentation is thorough, accurate, and up to date.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams within the shipyard to ensure that the purchasing function supports the overall business goals and communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to procurement, including supply chain disruptions and quality issues.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Job requirements
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
5 ~ 7 years of experience leading a procurement or supply chain management team, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team, fostering a collaborative and performance-oriented environment.
Proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Office applications, and SAP systems is highly preferred.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
